From early on, LaneTwelve made a point of building an environment where people are pushed to break out of the box rather than just follow instructions. We'd rather someone question the brief than execute it quietly and wait for the next one.

A team of order-takers can execute a plan. It can't build one. The people who've stuck around longest, and gone furthest, tend to be the ones who treated their first junior brief like it was their own small business — accountable for how it turned out, not just for finishing the task.

What Contagious Actually Means

Entrepreneurial thinking spreads inside a company the same way most behaviour does — by proximity. Put one person who treats their work like it's their own business next to five people who treat it like a task, and within a year it's fairly obvious which mindset wins out. That's why culture, for us, was never really a poster on a wall. It's who gets hired, who gets promoted, and which stories get repeated when someone does something the brief never asked for.
