University. Tuitions. Homework. Assignments. Your dad's hand on your shoulder telling you to just get the degree and get it over with so you can get a job. Your mum packing extra lunch because you'll be starving after the after-school maths class. It's a familiar picture for a whole generation — the degree as the finish line, not really the start of anything.
The World That Is
That world's mostly passed. Passion and curiosity now beat a framed qualification more often than the old model ever wanted to admit. A lot of the people building genuinely interesting careers right now taught themselves outside a classroom, because they actually wanted to, not because a syllabus told them to.
Anyone can be taught to do a job. Not everyone can be taught to actually care whether it's done well.

A degree tells us someone finished a structured programme. It doesn't tell us whether they'll still be curious about the work three years in, whether they'll ask better questions than the brief demands, or whether they'll take ownership of something nobody actually assigned them. Those are the things that actually predict who does well here — and none of them show up on a transcript.
We're not against education, to be clear. We're just more interested in evidence. Show us the side project, the thing you built because you wanted to, the problem you solved before anyone paid you for it — and we'll take that over a certificate most days.
